A new youth is emerging
|
|
|
|
I have received a letter from a scholarship graduate at the University of Urvine, California, who comments on his impressions on returning to Catalonia. He is happy to be back. He is not disappointed with the country following several years’ absence. He remarks that: “Many such students have returned because they believe in Catalonia”.
However, he looks to the future with guarded optimism: “We are going through a relatively easy period, although difficult times lay ahead. “The more the country sleeps and the politicians become distracted, the more difficult these times will be.” Another post-graduate student returning from abroad writes: “We all have rights and obligations, and I want to fulfil my obligations as a citizen of Catalonia”. And he goes on to explain what he is doing professionally.

Spotlighting the Chamber of Commerce studies departament
|
|
|
|
43 years ago some technical youths graduated at college started to work in the Barcelona’s Chamber of Commerce. It is worth to recall chronologically the first ones to do it: Joaquim Muns and and then, quickly, it came Andreu Gispert, Narcís Serra, Francesc Granell, Armand Carabén, Joaquim Tosas and other pioneers that now would enlarge the list and would make me to omit some of them.

Irving i la impunitat del mal
|
|
|
|

On the editorial "But no country can move forward without politics"
|
|
|
|
The Analysis that does Jordi Pujol of the need of the politics, and of the politicians, is very correct. And I agree with it at all. But i would like to add that ultimately I observe, above all in political analysts and journalists of the mass media, a certain eagerness of discredit to politicians. They even hesitate–in a generalized way– that who choose this way have not a will of service, whether to the country or to the society in extensive sense. And it surprises me, therefore they are people that by their level of information should know to discern some politicians of the other. This does not help anything to the collective conscience, and even less in the moments, as the presenttime, with a high level of agitation.

On the editorial "But no country can move forward without politics"

“The country will not advance without politics, I agree, It but it is necessary to seek and define some minimums common denominators in several basic and strategic matters to have a strong, and economically powerful country from which the different political proposals can be articulated. Some fields that should be object of these agreements (similar to the Pact of Toledo), could be: the education, the immigration, the infrastructures or the antiterrorism politics. Establishing these agreements is the art of the politics. Demanding these settings is one of the roles of the civil society.”

From all the news of the last 15 days, we have selected the next ones:
Xavier Folch quits as the Institute Ramon Llull executive He
exposed that he quitted because his idea of what should be the
Institute is so different with Miera’s idea. Until today he has
not been substituted. The director of the MNAC, the most
important museum of Catalonia and one of the largest of Europe, quitted
two months ago and has not been substituted until this
morning. No comments.
The Generalitat recovers 250.000 documents of the Catalonian exile in France It
is a donation of the organization Spanish Refugee Aid to the New York
University. The Generalitat will order, will catalogue and will
digitize it to bring a copy in Catalonia. Also the Catalonian
Cultural Work of Buenos Aires leaves in the National File the letters
between Francesc Macià and the Catalonian colony. Jaume Garriga
of the Buenos Aires OCC brought them. The papers begin with a
letter of Macià to the Liberty Committee where explains the failure of
the Prats of Molló conspiracy and include letters, telegrams and
documents of the trip to South-amèrica of Macià and Gassol.
Opposition of the ecologists to the road’s plan About
thirty companies demands the retreat of the plan that the government
presented last December. They consider that it is only a plan of
highways concealed that prioritizes still more the private
transportation. Also the railway cross axis has carried many
criticisms, according to their criterion would it would not be
necessary to make it a speedway line. It is worrying and each
time more generalized the opinion of many sectors and of many people
that consider that we are having a paralisys of many indispensable
initiatives for the progress and the development of the productive
economy, damaging the competivity of the country.
To froze mother cells is not a habitual, neither recommendable practice, in the Spanish hospitals Despite
this, the prince and princess of Asturias decided to conserve the blood
of the umbilical cord of their daughter Leonor. Tehy sent it To
Tucson (USA) to the American business Cord Blood Registry with a price
of 1.500 euro and 100 more each year. What should be the normal
practice and what would have to recommend the authorities is the
donation to public banks and of an altruistic form to use cells for
transplants.
The convention of the Popular Party, called the Fitur of the PP A
feast environment, as an end of festival. Importantsentences,
Aznar: “Spain will not survive the Statute”, Fraga: “I see good will in
the golpistas of the 23-F”. The former president of the Spanish
government and the leader of the first opposition party sat down on the
ground, we still remember the former president sitting in front
of G. Bush with the feet over the table. It is necessary to have
more correction and to be realistic.
The harbours control The
competences that will establish the new Statute are important for
Catalonia. It is important the debate in the United States on the
administration of the harbours of Baltimore, Philadelphia, Miami, New
York, Newark and New Orleans, that would correspond to a Dubai company
controlled by a real family of this country. These days,
Barcelona’s harbour authority has opened
a public contest for the awarding of the new Terminal for the next
twenty years. It seems that the Asian multinationals, and
particularly those from Dubai, will have many odds. Barcelona,
european door of the asian products.

Political compromise and christianity sense
|
|
|
Joan Rigol describes in this book, not only his personnels experiences during the twenty-five years of political life, but also some reflections on the politics, the power and the society, since his condition of christian. With a pedagogical and clear style describes, first, the causes of the progressive distancing of the society and the politics. Later, in the part that is the doctrinal knot of the work, exposes the concept of person, opened to the liberty, to the future and to the other, with many references to the authors that has influenced more his thought, among others: Mounier, Maritain, Congar, Rahner or Rovira Belloso (that writtes the book’s prologue). He also analyzes the three tensions of the present society: between the community and the society; among power and service; between urgent problems and social change. Finally, in the most personnel part of the book, the author formulates the orientation and experiences that have inspired his political commitment. A book of a deeply honest politician, that should help meditate to the politicians and also to the citizens that need to recover his confidence in the politics and the politicians.

Fondation pour l'innovation politique
|
|
|
The Foundation pour l'innovation politique has the aim to watch for the construction of a united Europe and with a leader position in a world each time more globalized. And it does it with the conviction that the innovative principles that at present day are applied to the science, culture, economy or technology should be transferred also to politics to face with guarantees the planetary problems that affect the society: crisis of the family institution and the nation-sattes, energy resources, poverty, internacional terrorism nets, preservation of the environment... But more than establishing a doctrine, it intends to generate a renewed public debate on the world that we want for tomorrow and the global way by wich we want to deal it.
